Change.
I can not properly express in words my excitement over the events in Egypt and the Middle East over the past few weeks. Hearing their revolutionary rhetoric has been beauty. A revolution in and of itself is an extraordinary accomplishment, but to do so peacefully against a well entrenched dictator? Incredible.
Change is here, for better or worse. What ever may come, I am eagerly awaiting what comes next.
We in the West must take care with our own perceptions, though. The Islamic world is very, very different from the West. Democracy there will not look like it does here. Nonetheless, these people have fought for their rights. They deserve them. We must allow them to take their own steps from here. Change is spreading. How far will it spread? Hard to say. It may become more of the same.
That being said, here’s to a bright new future.
