A conversation with my dad:

Me: Hey Dad, I know how your church views gay marriage, but what’s your view on it?

My dad: Ah, good question. I don’t see much of a problem with it. Honestly, it’ll become legal eventually. It’s only a matter of time before some one brings up the fact that denying them the right to marry goes against the 14th amendment. But really, how does making gay marriage legal affect my marriage?

(Btw, the church I referred to is the Mormon Church of which my entire family belongs to minus this lonely atheist and my sister who’s a nonreligious Christian of some sort.)

Oh, I knew I liked this guy for a reason. It isn’t because of the facts that I look just like him but with lighter skin and share a LOT of traits with him, either.

The madre burns Santorum with a counter-point.

I told my madre about that stupidity spewed by Santorum telling a university (in a speech) that “not only is being a LGBT individual seen as suffering from a mental disorder, but so is being a female” and she replied by telling me that there’s a theory out there about how men are a bit brainwashed/insane/brain-damaged because of the testosterone which is introduced in the womb. Winning.

And this is quite unrelated, but I miss my girlfriend.

Single Mother Bristol Palin Tells Obama Same-Sex Marriage is Wrong Because Kids Need a Mom and Dad

My sister and I had a very similar argument/debate with our Mormon step mother this morning. She said that children shouldn’t be raised by only one gender and can’t be raised well if they are. I asked her about single parents. I think she realized that my sister and I were raised mostly by a single mother and she immediately started backpedaling. Apparently it’s ok if there’s only one gender, but not two of that gender. Makes perfect sense if you don’t think about it.

And how about the surplus of children needing to be adopted? They need parents. There are so many desperately wanting children. Why aren’t we giving them these children? Is no parent better than a gay couple as parents? I think not, bigots. Besides, if you let the law pass, then you’re making the world worse and thus speeding up the second coming. If you’re all waiting for it, why wait? It’d theoretically speed up your victory.

Marriage according to religious bigots: “Shotgun weddings or weddings from a drunken night in Vegas? Totes sacred. Jesus approves. Lifelong, long term gay partners? Satanic. Ruins all marriages.”

  • The Religious Right: The family is ordained of God. Gay parents could never raise a healthy child together. Heterosexual couples are the best bet, just like God intended. He wants everyone to love each other like brother and sister.
